Submission Guidelines

Founded in 1960, Well Servicing Magazine is a publication of the Association of Energy Service Companies, an international association comprised of companies and individuals providing essential services and products to the upstream oil and gas industry.

The magazine is the voice of the oil and gas service industry and is dedicated to expanding and supporting the interests of the total energy service industry.  Through the years, the association has grown to incorporate other types of services directly affiliated with upstream oil and gas services such as wireline, coiled tubing, hot oilers, roustabout services, snubbing, swabbing, hydraulic fracturing, pressure pumping, oilfield trucking, etc.

For more than five decades, the AESC has operated through a network of national committees and local chapters, who address safety, technology, environmental, insurance, governmental, training, oilfield theft, and other issues of common concern.

Our organization and its members are interested in pieces focused on concrete topics written by people across our industry who provide direct or ancillary services. We are looking for a clear takeaway for our readers: What can they learn to improve their understanding of the industry? What specific how-to tips and strategies will accomplish this? Are there new hurdles in the regulatory environment, political, legal, or human resources that our members should know about?

If you’re unfamiliar with our magazine or its content, we recommend reading a few issues, subscribing, or at least signing up for our newsletter to get familiarized with AECS.

If you are familiar with AESC, please provide a fleshed-out outline of your story idea and an estimated word count, inquiries should include your name and a brief description of your background. Please do not submit pieces that have been previously published online or in print. If the piece is finished, please copy and paste it into the body of the email. Article lengths vary widely from 275 to 1,500 words. On occasion, longer articles and excerpts also appear in the magazine.

Submission inquiries should be sent by e-mail to Susan Dudley at Please do not send any inquiries to any other address that may not be seen.

We recommend writers ask themselves the following questions to help us understand how your piece best fits in our pages:

  • How specifically will this story idea help our readers become more informed about the industry, trends, politics, and education? What takeaway will it provide?
  • Why is this particular idea timely or relevant?
  • Why are you the perfect person to write this piece?
  • What kind of sidebars or other creative elements can you include to make your idea more multifaceted?

Please ensure you have original photos to include with your content. The photos must be original or have explicit permission to use. The photo(s) need to be 1 MB or larger or they will not be accepted.
